The co-founders of GBM are Guillaume Gonnaud, Edouard Bessire, and Hugo McDonaugh. 

What are the benefits of tokenizing a domain?

I’m trying to connect my wallet using the ‘Connect’ button, but it isn’t working. What should I do?

When you select the ‘Connect’ option, you should see a pop-up appear from your wallet provider asking for permission to connect to the GBM Domains platform.

If this does not appear, it may be caused by interference from another wallet extension.

To resolve this issue, try using a different browser with only the Coinbase or Metamask wallet extension installed.

I’ve created a Coinbase Smart Wallet. How do I access the wallet to add cryptocurrency so I can register, tokenize and trade domains?

Your Coinbase Wallet can be accessed, funded and managed at https://wallet.coinbase.com/ .

I’m getting an “invalid API key” message when I connect my dynadot account, what is the issue?

If you recently generated a new API key, you may need to wait at least 20 minutes before connecting it to the GBM Domains platform.

This is because the Dynadot platform takes some time to update its database with new API keys.

I’m trying to place a bid on an auction, but I’m not able to “approve a token for spending” in my Metamask wallet. How do I fix this?

If you are receiving an error message in your Metamask wallet when attempting to “approve a token for spending”, there may be an issue with the RPC. To fix this issue, you will need to change the RPC settings in your wallet.

To do this, visit https://metaschool.so/rpc/base , you will see a list called “RPC URL” on the right of the page with an option to “Add to Metamask”.

Select “Add to Metamask” on any of the listed URL’s in this list. A confirmation message will appear to show you that the RPC has been updated.

How does the tokenization process work?

When you tokenize a new or existing domain with GBM Domains, we create an associated token on the Base network, which represents the domain.

GBM Domains holds your domain in a secure ICANN-accredited registrar on your behalf, and your token allows you to control, sell or redeem the domain at any time for free.

You can transfer or sell your token without any restrictions, allowing you to avoid expensive and time-consuming escrow services.

I don’t have a cryptocurrency wallet, can I still trade domains on your platform?

You’ll need a cryptocurrency wallet in order to tokenize new and existing domains and to trade domains on the Marketplace. 

If you don’t have a cryptocurrency wallet, we recommend getting a Coinbase Wallet. The process only takes a few minutes.

We have created video tutorials showing you how to install the wallet on desktop, create a new wallet and fund this wallet with the cryptocurrency you’ll need to use GBM Domains.

In the near future, we’ll be adding support for non-crypto payments, however you’ll still need a cryptocurrency wallet to store your tokenized domains.  

I have a domain that I’d like to put up for auction, how do I do this?

You’ll need to complete this short form to get whitelisted and start hosting Bid-to-Earn auctions for your domains.

How long does it take to transfer a domain from my registrar to dynadot?

The time it takes to transfer a domain from one registrar account to another varies depending on the registrars involved. On average it can take from 48 hours to 5 days for a domain to be transferred to a new registrar. 

For accurate information, check with your current registrar.

I’d like to bid on an auction for a domain on the Marketplace, how do I do this?

To place a bid on a domain, navigate to the auction for the domain you’d like to purchase, select the ‘connect’ option at the top right hand of your screen to connect your cryptocurrency wallet and then enter your bid.

After entering your bid, you’ll be able to see how much you’ll earn if you are outbid, using our Bid-to-Earn auction model. 

Select ‘place bid’ to submit your bid for the domain. You’ll be asked by your wallet provider to confirm your bid. After this is confirmed, your bid will be placed!

Where is my tokenized domain stored when I use GBM Domains?

Your tokenized domain is stored securely with Dynadot, who are an ICANN accredited registrar.

The domain can be redeemed at any time which removes the token from your wallet and updates ownership data via Dynadot.

Is GBM Domains an ICANN accredited registrar?

GBM Domains is a proxy service that is built directly on the Dynadot API. 

This means that users on the GBM Domains platform benefit from all the security and features provided by Dynadot, whilst also accessing the advanced features enabled through our tokenization process.

When ICANN releases their official accreditation process, GBM Domains will apply for accreditation.

What is the Bid-to-Earn auction system and how does it work?

A Bid-to-Earn auction is an incentivized auction model in which bidders who are outbid immediately get their original bid back and earn an incentive.

The amount that can be earned by bidders is based on the incentive level set by the seller and how much they have outbid a previous bidder. 

The Bid-to-Earn auction model has proven to result in better sale prices for sellers, as bidders are incentivized to find the true market value of an asset.
